VASHON SHEEPDOG CLASSIC ANNOUNCES SKIP YEAR FOR 2023

​

Vashon, Washington - The organizers of the Vashon Sheepdog Classic (VSDC) would like to announce a skip year for 2023. We are delighted to hear of the recent sale of parcels within the Misty Isle Properties and are excited to potentially partner with the King County Water & Land Resources Division and the new owners on Westside Hwy for future use of the field, but sadly for 2023 there will be no Vashon Sheepdog Trials.

VSDC is using this time to reflect on our mission of giving back to our island community while at the same time looking forward to what the future has in store for this uniquely Vashon event. Maggi McClure, our founding President, recently attended the 35th anniversary celebration of Vashon’s Partners in Education (PIE) and was honored to learn that through our 12-year partnership we have helped raise over $120,000 with the “Smart Dogs for Smart Kids” campaign. Let that sink in! This is thanks in part to great ideas and strong partnerships along with you - our beloved community of Handlers, Spectators, Sponsors and Vendors.  As PIE is hosting their annual phone-a-thon fundraiser we encourage those in our community to donate to PIE or any of the other vital organizations we've supported in the past including the Vashon Maury Food Bank, Vashon Youth & Family Services or VARSA.

Vashon Sheepdog Classic looks forward to 2024 for our next community event, continuing the tradition in giving back to our island and hosting one of the most esteemed national sheepdog competitions in North America.
